Guided Meditation with Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness meditation suggestions

Walking meditation, with each step filling your lungs breathe in 'Yes' yes yes breathe out thank you thank you thank you, and feel the ground beneath your feet, with so much love for the earth.

When you are driving and you stop at a red light, see it as a moment of mindfulness, breathe in gratitude and breathe out with a smile

When the phone rings, breathe in yes, breathe out thank you and mindfully walk to the phone to answer after the 3rd ring.
So you answer with peace.

Put your hand on your heart, and feel so much gratitude for your beating heart.

Be so grateful for your eyes, for all of the beautiful colours you can see, the beautiful sky and green foliage. Breathe in gratitude and breathe out with a smile.

Self Healing for Guilt and Non Self Forgiveness

Which one is bigger? The windscreen in your car? Or the rear view mirror?

This is an analogy for life. Glance in your rear view mirror to learn from your mistakes, acknowledge them, but don't dwell on them.

This is crazy because I woke up with all these thoughts this morning and had to write them down and pass them on to some friends. Then I started listening to this session with Master Co and it was all about the same thing!

Here are the notes and process that I'd woken up with, and I'd really recommend these amazing teachings and meditation by Master Co, to help you to move on and let go!

Challenges in life are sent to teach us a lesson.

Until you learn the lesson and change your reaction or response, the chances are the same things will keep happening in your life.

My Dad always said "If you do what you always do, you'll get what you've always got."

If there is a situation that you keep complaining about and offloading to your friends about. Stop for a minute and evaluate, write it down.

What have you learnt from this situation? (E.g. Relationship X, Y, Z?)

Are there any patterns emerging?

Accept responsibility for your own actions in the situation.

What do you choose to do differently going forward?

"Where focus goes energy flows" Tony Robbins

If you work on letting go of the resentment , negative emotions, guilt etc.

You can focus your energy on moving forward and creating a happier future.

It's time to acknowledge, recognise and break the patterns!

Day 7 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

Day 7
"Why is it that even watching a recorded version I can still feel the energy?" It's as simple as this, energy is projected to all of you and into the energy field of the earth. It's as if you upload something to the cloud, people can tap into it and download it. This energy is deposited into the flux field of the earth.
Meditation starts at 35 minutes

Once you understand about energy and this life force, you'll realise we're swimming in it, that means all of us are in this gigantic ocean of energy and oneness.
This energy is so real it effects your health, relationship, finances and effects your spirituality.

These 7 days of meditation inches you in to have a deeper knowingness of this energy.

After these sessions I hope you'll go and learn more about Pranic Healing, find your nearest center or read about it. It's completely changed my life and that's why I can't help but want the same for you.

Money, think about it this way you are a spiritual being, having a material and physical experience.
The spiritual being, the soul uses the body, the emotions and thoughts to move in the earthly life to learn lessons.

As long as you have a physical form you have to learn how to take care of your finances. The question is why? Because the physical form is able to function, exist, interact with earthly life by using resources. It just so happens that in this time in history, money is the means of exchange.

Now why am I sharing this with you? Because some people swing to one extreme and go on about money being bad and know bad people who use it to do hurt people.
It's like justifying being broke. That's true some people do use it to do bad things. What has that got to do with me and you? Nothing.

There are a lot of good people with a good heart using money correctly to change the world.
Money in the hands of good people will change and transform the world.

So in your case since you have the good heart, since you have the good intentions, why don't you become super prosperous so you can have the resources, so you can make that change?

So for a lot of us is our thought forms, and negative stories we've been told growing up about rich people being bad. There are a lot of stories about good people who are rich, they just don't shout about it in the same way.

Let's take it one step further. A lot of you want to do more meditation. A lot of you want to spend more time with your family. A lot of you want to go to holy places. A lot of you have such a good heart, you think if I had more time I'd want to volunteer at the homeless shelter, or volunteer at the healing center. Or I really want to open up a healing center that can help so many people.

Do you know the number one limiting factor for them manifesting those things?

Good intentions, with no resources is complete waste of time.

I know that sounds harsh but it's true. Because having the right resources gives you the opportunity and the independence to do what you really want, what's really in your heart.

Having the proper attitude along with the right resources, allows you to manifest the goodness within you.

And it just struck me really hard, because it makes sense. Money is your friend not your enemy. If you are on the spiritual path it allows you to go to holy places and help people in need.

Affirmations are great, visualisations are great because they help create powerful thoughts that help push you in the right direction. But big fish eat small fish. Because when you reach breaking point, all the bad thoughts and negative stories creep in and start to self sabotage. And you loose certainty. Sounds familiar? I know because I've been there many times! When you start doubting yourself those thoughts suddenly say,  see I told you so...

True? Not true? And yet even in the depression of the 1940's there were more millionaires that were made at that time.

So the key here is to start with your consciousness because if your consciousness is defective then whatever we say or do it will be based on that programming.

So the first thing we need to do here, is to first have the realisation that:

Money is neutral, in the hands of good people, it can do a lot of good. In the hands of good people it can change the world.

We also have to realise we have a lot of old programming, old negative emotions that can creep up at any given time.

So we have to actively identify and disintegrate!

So that you can look at the possibilities and disintegrate old programming.

So here's the plan, we are doing to do the meditation of twoin hearts again, and aim the hose squarely at those poverty conscious thought forms, limiting and hindering beliefs within us. We'll aim that hose, break it up, break it up, disintegrate it and flush it out.

Then we'll focus at the base of the spine because that's where a lot of those negative beliefs are stored.

When you join a spiritual group, when you learn something new, when you're studying it, part of it feels familiar, you feel like you know this, you know why? Because you do. The lessons go with the soul, not with the body. The soul is learning, with it without the body. At night when you sleep the soul is learning.

When the body sleeps the energy of the soul , part of it stays in the body to keep it alive, and part of it actually goes travelling in the energy world. Doing one of 2 things, doing service in the energy world, ministering other souls in need.
2 when the body sleeps, many of us go to inner schools, learning from other teachers, saints, angelic beings in the energy world. That's why it's good to write things down in the morning. It's nothing to do with memory. It's your soul and brain have a temporary lack of communication. So the brain is not able to register all those impulses and information and data in the higher frequency. It's like you have an AM radio and your doing your best to register what's on FM. Make sense? Alright!

Because the soul learns when the bodies awake and when the bodies asleep. So what you can do before you sleep is pray ' I the soul, want to serve as many as possible in the inner world'  or 'I'd like to learn lessons and I will remember it'
If you try this for 7 or 8 days you will notice a pattern and you will feel very much fulfilled.

That is also where you can get intuition, where to invest your money etc and that data can be priceless.

Whatever you sow you reap,
Make sure you give

I want to break a certain belief. And that's 'when you give, never expect anything back.' it's just like saying keep exhaling and don't expect to inhale. It's ridiculous.

That's why the law of Kama says whatever you throw out will come back, and because of the law of attraction on its way back there is a multiplication effect.

Karma 1st law, whatever you sow you reap.

Law of attraction 2nd law. On its way back it will start to attract similar vibrations before it gets to you.

The reason we have to give and share, money affection, if you don't give, there is no space to receive. You have to learn to give in order to create room to receive.

Now we are touching a nerve.
Book *Achieve the impossible- the golden lotus that transforms signs of prosperity and spiritual business management.

"When you get money like water, you have to give away money like water if you want it to flow.
The moment you stop it starts to slow down. If you tide (give money to charity) you must also be willing to receive the divine blessings of prosperity. If you will not receive it your ability to give will be adversely affected. This goes against the law of cycles.
If you don't receive you will get depleted, you cannot just exhale without inhaling."

It is important: Learn to give, learn to receive.
Allow it to come to you, be grateful, which allows you to give more.

Now that I am being blessed with more it increases my capacity to give and share more, when that happens more and more, you have prosperity.

Poverty consciousness they don't want to give
The other way is the give you much and don't want to take anything in, what happens they burn out and go broke.

The secret is balancing and Integrate it into out lives

When you have certainty that when I give and share, I will receive and be able to give more.

The fact that you are listening to this, you are interested in the spiritual path, whatever we accumulated physically we cannot take with us. The key is before we leave our bodies when we give and share it's the spiritual way of disentanglement of the soul. Entanglement to material things leads to greed. Since we can't take it with us anyway the conversion program is the law of Kama. By giving away you can do good with it and the karma is mine.

Your inner strength comes from your spiritual practice.

Day 6 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

Day 6
Meditation starts at 24 minutes
Yesterday it was emotional healing, today is all about physical healing.
Prana or life force is the energy that permeates the entire universe, the body can use this to heal itself or maintain itself.
It effects healing in 2 ways, 1: your body's moving around, hearts pumping, bones growing and strengthening organs functioning. All that consumes fuel, that fuel comes from this current called prana or chi.
2: This very intangible spiritual current needs something to absorbe it and assimilate it. You have this interface, and a dense physical body, in order to receive this spiritual current, that interface is your energy body.

Your energy body consists of 3 things.
The energy center called chakras.
The wires that connect them called meridians.
As you know if you have current going through a wire it will produce an electromagnetic field. So that field that is generated, when this life force goes through your body this is called your aura.

It's not mystical, it's science. It's just that at the moment science doesn't have a reliable instrument to register and measure this life force. Eventually it will come, but a lot of us can feel it.

In Pranic healing you're taught how to scan it, some of you in deep meditation can see lights.
This so called prana, this life force is absorbed from the environment, your energy center or chakras absorb it and transport it to the necessary organs.

So the easiest way to understand is this. You have a physical body and physical organs. You have an energy body, you have energy organs. So these energy organs are the chakras. This comes from the Sanskrit word meaning wheel.

There are actually more than 7 chakras, but when this was brought to the west by Theosophy study of God, they kept in mind simplicity and safety as a priority.
They are teaching something that's really far out, so they've made it easier to digest.
As time goes by people start to understand these deeper spiritual teachings.
Acumpuncture points are basically chakras.
In Pranic healing we work with 11 chakras
In the Jewish kabbalistic system there are 10 plus a hidden one so they have 11.
Hinduism there are others. So don't get fixated on 7.

Here's the critical part. Once you understand you have these energy centres, if you feel love, you feel it in your chest, that's your heart chakra. Or if you break up with someone you feel heart break, it's not your physical heart that's broken. Or if you're very giving people describe you as having a big heart. If you're so giving and loving people say you've got a heart of gold. It's not refering to your physical heart. Your heart chakra has 2 colours, red and gold. The reason it's green on a chakra chart is because they're forcing it to represent the colours of the rainbow. But for people who can see energy they will see all the chakras are multicoloured.

Energetically it does 2 things Psychologically and emotionally it gives you the ability to love. Physically it feeds energy to your heart respiratory thymus gland and circulatory system.
So all your energy centres have physical function and the majority also have psychological functions.

So when you come to healing you learn about the energy centres and the physical organs that they control. When the chakras function properly, it absorbes fresh life force and releasing the bi product or waste products, just like when you inhale, exhale. The chakras springs in both directions to take in fresh Prana, release old energy.

If this energy center cannot do it for some reason, if there is an injury, stress, bad health, anger, it blocks it so it cannot absorb the fresh energy properly or release the waste products. At some point it's stunted and cannot spin, that's what you call a blockage.
So healing, doesn't matter what tradition you use, the idea is to restore the spin of the chakras so the organ behind it will get the fresh Prana or life force that it needs.

Practical techniques
11 chakras
Crown center: is like a plate on top of your head as the crown spins it brings energy down to your brain and pineal glan

One on the forehead, controls pineal gland and memory.

Aginal or brow center this is not actually your 3rd eye, that's higher just at the top of your brow at the bottom of your hairline.

This is the centre of the brow is the CEO of all your chakras it controls the will and pituitary gland.

The throat centre controls the thyroid gland and ability to speak and creativity.

Heart centre respiratory, thymus gland, circulatory system.

The one below it between the ribs is the solar plexus, as the energy goes in it spreads to all the internal organs spleen liver and the centre. That gets blocked when you're angry and stressed and resentful. If this area is blocked because if negative emotion, the body doesn't heal. It nutralises a lot of the good habits that you do.

When the solar plexus is clean it somehow has a cleansing effect. If something stresses you out you might feel nauseated, because that area controls your stomach.

The spleen center is where fresh life force comes in, if you spend time with people with very low energy, the spleen chakra is the one that gets blocked. Every depressed person has a blocked spleen center, and it's having difficulty absorbing fresh life force. So when you do Pranic healing we really focus on cleaning that one.

Naval center controls your intestines, elimination it's also where you hold energy.

Sex center is obviously for sexual pleasure and reproductive organs, and lower creativity.

Base of the spine controls blood, bones, muscles body heat, cell growth and repair it's the centre for youthfulness. If you keep that one healthy and clean your body heals faster and you have a tendancy to look like your body's not ageing. When that guys blocked, you have no energy and things take longer to heal.

Last one behind belly button is the menming chakra, gate of life, kidneys, urinary system, blood pressure.

So there you can see when these energy centres are blocked the organs behind it start to suffer. Get rid of the block first then let the fresh energy in. All of the crazy things were doing here is to remove the blockages and let fresh energy in.

Certain crystals generate certain energy. If you're dealing with negative people, wear purple, it's like a violet aura like a shield. If you wear a purple stone like amethyst on your chest as long as you clean it in salt water first, it breaks down the negative energy before it goes in and disintegrates it.
Afterwards you have to clean it again in salt water, to discharge all the junk before you wear it again.

Visualising is a way of moving energy.
Breathing is a way of moving energy.
Physical movement is a way of moving energy.
Your will and intention, chanting is a way to move energy.

The question why do we always to the meditation of twin hearts? It's a powerful meditation that used to be a secret that's in many traditions. When the heart and crown are stimulated, you are now in the waterfall of massive amounts of spiritual energy.

When that energy is pouring down then we can channel that energy for emotional healing, like we did yesterday and today we are going to channel organ by organ for physical healing.

Tomorrow we will focus on prosperity healing, proper finances give you the ability to help and serve more people. And freedom to do what you want. So that's why we are going to do prosperity healing, also to ground you.

I'd you're enjoy these teachings and meditations and would like to make a donation to Master Co here is the link https://pranichealing.com/make-a-donation ✨⭐🌟

Day 5 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

Day 5:
The energy body is more easily dirtied than the physical body. When you talk to someone and they are angry or upset, they splatter it all over you!
If you do a little mediation everyday you'll notice you are a little calmer. You don't allow layers of crap to build up. And if they are, they don't stick very deep because you are constantly washing them off.

Whatever is happening outside, good or bad, our response to it, is within our control if we own it.  In the end, if you wanted to, you have that power within you.
For example if you're in the middle of a big argument, then all of a sudden your boss calls or someone shows up at your door and you quickly have to sort yourself out and say. "Hi, what can I do for you? How are you? Yes, I'm fine!" It shows that with enough of a compelling force, you can change your emotional mental state at the drop of a hat.

You are in control of your emotions. The problem is we don't exercise it enough.
The purpose of these meditations is to share spiritual teachings, to help make your life better.

When everything is said and done, the question we all need to ask ourselves is "who am I?"
And once you know the " I" creates movement by moving the body. Creates feelings by generating energy withing the astral body. Creates thoughts by generating energy in this machine called the mental body. And depending on the circumstances, we decide how you want to respond. That's step one.

Step two is this: what happen is you're already there. You've watched the news or something's happened. What is not good is that it consumes you so much that you cannot think clearly anymore. It becomes so stressful that everything else you need to do goes to one side. And you've lost control. By using mediation, you want to regain your power and take an energetic shower to flush this out of your system. Layer by layer, that way it doesn't build up.

People often say "oh meditation I like this, how often should I do this?"

Think about it like this, Most people shower at least once a day, for physical higine, to prevent build up. I do it 2-3 times a day because you can energetically charge water to also flush away dirty energy.

You can put some salt and lavender oil and use it as a scrub. Lavender has 2 colours, blue and violet. Blue is calming and localising, pulling the energy close together. And violet raises the vibration. By the time you put the two in salt it erases a lot of stress energy.

By showering and washing away the dirty energy you create a vaccine for fresh energy to go in.

It effects more of your emotions and your thoughts, because its like cleaning your windscreen, and allows you to see more clearly.

In this session Master Co teaches you a technique to shift negative energy from your solar plexus.

The quickest way is to change the energy in our chakras.
Basically what we are doing is rearranging the chakras so that we have the chakra pattern of somebody that is happy, loving and spiritually connected.

"It's the short cut, it's good for lazy People!"

Other Recommend Oils for cleansing in your salt scrub, or diffuser or room spray:

Tea tree, is green energy
Sage oil: has 3 colours green for cleansing , blue for calming  and violet for raising the vibration
Eucalyptus is orange energy, it's expelling if you have trapped energy in your body you can cleanse it.

To create a sprayer you can mix 20-30 drops of your oil with rubbing alcohol or vodka in a spray bottle to cleanse the air and your environment. These are some ways to keep energetically clean.

Here's a question for you; How important is the quality of the water in an aquarium, to the health of the fish?
Answer; super important!
The energy around us that we soak in is our aquarium. So you might be clean energetically, but if your environment is constantly dirty, you are constantly having to pick yourself up, so it's good to clean your environmental also.

Day 4 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

Day 4: The key to Meditation is balancing your yin and Yang energy. Yang is using your will, putting attention. Meditation is using your awareness and your heart, one is projecting and one is recieving. When you chant you use your will.
Listening is awareness, talking is consentrating.

The secret is to have both stillness and talking. The purpose of talking and guided meditation is to gently use the will, and move it to a certain direction. As you focus you're using your attention to follow it, simultaneously the energy is flowing through you, clearing out the stressful energy and negative emotions. Your heart's getting activated. So by the time we stop talking, your heart and crown are more open and you are there. You can let go, and let the data come to you. So by talking first to clean things out, it's more effective.

In this meditation we use our fire hose of energy to send healing love to all the areas of the world and to the people who are in distress. By doing this we are connecting with the universal light and collectively by doing this we can make a difference.

Tomorrow's session is about healing ourselves and the day after is about healing our finances. The more we have the more we can give, the more people we can help and the bigger impact we can have, it's all about balance.
At the end of the session Master Co asks that you write down all of your goals and aspirations, better health, better relationships or a project you're working on. Whatever your wishes are, or areas of your life that you would like to direct energy too.
In order for them to materialise it needs energy, on order for it to physicalise it needs to hit a certain break point where there's so much energy and certain components are present that it manifests. Every time you meditate your aura expands masively with so much energy flowing through, after you are done you can focus your energy on blessing your protects. So write it down and have it ready to send your energy to in coming sessions.

Day 3 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

In this session Master Co teaches so many powerful lessons, I have taken notes for you incase you don't have time to listen to the full session right now. The Mediation starts at: 35 minues 22 seconds.

"It's not enough that a person meditates a person needs to be an instrument to do good. As we try to improve ourselves and learn these deeper spiritual teachings then we can be more powerful vessels to serve others."

The good news is we can do our part and keep making adjustments in the energy world and in the process of adjusting that energy world, we are also transforming ourselves to be better people. Inner changes cause outer changes

1: the world is going through some challenging times so it's our job to be strong, focused, loving and intelligent, to step up and do what you think is right.
2: Realise that everything is subject to change, the law of change the law of cycles the law of consequence, known as Karma, what goes around comes around.
The law of karma is like gravity, there are certain rules and principles that make it tick. Karma if you understand the mechanism and principles you can harness it.
The law is governed by the golden rules, the negative side and positive side, do and don't,
Proactive doing something.
Karma is a spiritual technology to create and navigate our future, what ever we put out will come back to you.

What you give out, you will get back.

What do you want?
What don't you want?
We reap what we sow.

Be generous and giving, that's how you turn the tide.
Transmutation effect, it has the ability to transmute lower energy to higher energies to turn a bad situation into a better one. In the middle ages that was called Alchemy turning base metals into gold.

If you are with someone who is always angry and upset it feels heavy, when you're with someone whos loving and giving you feel love, nurtured, uplifted.

If you look at someone who's always angry and upset, their energy looks greyish like lead, energetically it feels heavy.

Statues in temples and churches are painted in gold to depict the colour of the aura once someone has practiced unconditional love.

The law of karma is a technology to transmute what is negative in our lives for something better. That is why we use the
prayer of St. Francis of Assisi: it has transmutation power.

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

"O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." Amen.

The law of opposites, the law of attraction is a cosmic boomerang, it will attract certain frequencies into your life.

By doing bad things, you are creating mysery for your future.

As we do this meditation the energy cleanses and transforms the negative energy inside us.
Hopefully by doing this we can encourage a wake up call for these people who are acting from their lower selves, sometimes it just needs a little spark to make it happen.

Your behaviour effects your energy.
Your energy changes your behaviour.
Anyone who you might be having problems with, flood them with pink and gold energy.

We can all do our part, inner changes cause outer changes. Try to keep making ajustments in the energy world and in the process of adjusting that energy world, we are also transforming ourselves to be better people. Inner changes cause outer changes.

It's not enough that a person meditates, a person needs to be an instrument to do good. As we try to improve ourselves and learn these deeper spiritual teachings then we can be more powerful vessels to serve others."

Day 1 of the Master Co 7 day meditation challenge

Meditation is a way to cleanse your energetic body. We shower every day for physical hygiene, if we don't meditate regularly we build up layers of negative energy.

Master Co describes this first session in the course as taking a fire hose to wash away this negative energetic build up!
When people complain or off load on us it's sticks to us!

This is a great course because it's not just a guided meditation, he teaches you about your chakras and energy and so much more!

It's easy to loose our way and get overwhelmed by what's going on in the news. So this 7 day meditation challenge is a great opportunity to focus on yourself, look after your mind body and soul, and develop and grow spiritually.

After doing the session, let me know how you feel in the comments below!

Bird Song, Healing Harp Music for Mediation

Healing Harp music to help you unwind. Let go of any stress or anxiety as you listen to this, just focus on your breath, you can use this to play in the background as you meditate or to help to get to sleep.

While playing the harp I'm visualising healing white light raining down, cleansing every cell in the body and pushing any negativity or illness down through the souls of the feet into the ground. It spirals around the centre of the earth and evaporates back up into the universe, filtered, energised ready to start the cycle again raining back down onto the top of the head to the tips of the toes.... You can visualise this healing energy, sending it to any loved ones who are in hospital or isolated or in need of healing and prayers.

I had a few harp lessons aged 9, then didn't continue with it. So I bought this little harp a few years ago, and now during lock down I thought it's a perfect time to start playing again!✨

Filmed during my walk of the day, in Jesmond Dene in Newcastle upon Tyne.🌱🌍✨🧘🕯️💗

Sending lots of love and healing to all

Guided Healing Meditation For Loved Ones

With family members and loved ones in hospital or isolated, facing this challenging time during lock down. Many people around the world are feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious.

I wanted to make a guided meditation to help channel our energy into positive healing for ourselves and each other. To help take our mind away from worry.

Use this guided meditation to visualise healing light and energy cleansing and rejuvenating every cell in your body. And to send love and healing energy to loved ones in hospital or in isolation else where.

This visualisation is inspired by one that my parents taught me as a child when I was ill, as well as Master Stephen Co who's meditations I love!

Filmed on my phone in Jesmond Dene in Newcastle upon Tyne, on my daily walk. I feel so grateful to have such beautiful nature on my doorstep! ❤️

Violet Flame Meditation for Global Healing | 432 Hz ✨

Direct our energy right now towards healing ourselves, our planet and those who are suffering, while we are all confined to our homes it's a little something that we can to help.

Each night as I'm falling to sleep I listen to a guided sleep meditation or healing music, to allow the subconscious mind the opportunity to heal, relax, unwind, de stress, gain focus.

Try it, see if you notice a difference in your state of mind the next morning, do you sleep better? Can you be more productive the next day? Do you have more ideas? Do you feel lighter? More energized?

The more positive energy we can send out into the universe right now the better starting with ourselves xxx

How to Disconnect in a Hyper-Connected World by Jasmine Williams

Connected technology has the power to make life significantly better in a number of ways. It can help us explore the world, monitor our health and stay in closer contact with family and friends around the world. But as much as connected tech can be helpful and useful, it can also become a crutch or even an addiction. Taking time to disconnect is important because just like our tech, humans also have a need to recharge their batteries. Connected tech can sometimes make it harder to do this rather than easier. Here are 3 ways to disconnect in a hyper-connected world.

1. Turn your phone off in the evening

Yes, you can simply turn your phone on silent or "do not disturb," but that doesn't stop you from habitually checking it every 6 seconds. In 2013, data collected from a screen lock app showed that on average, users checked their phone around 110 times per day, with some users checking it upwards of 900 times a day. That averages to be around once every 6 seconds, and that was in 2013.
The idea that you can actually multi-task has been thoroughly debunked. Instead, what is happening is you are completely switching your attention from one thing to another, even if just for a few seconds. This means that every time you check your phone, you are actually switching your attention or switching your focus away from family, friends, loved ones or even just your own evening activities. By turning your phone off entirely, you remove the temptation to keep checking it and if you do check it out of habit, all you will be greeted with is a blank screen. There are many benefits to disconnecting from digital devices for a few hours, but some of the scientifically proven ones are:
Better sleep
Greater ability to focus
Deeper, healthier and more intimate relationships

2. Take a digital detox

Sometimes, we can get so attached to technology that we literally can't remember what it was like without it. In many cases, our attachment is driven by fear - either the fear of being unavailable in an emergency or even just the fear of missing out on something. In fact, the fear of missing something is so prevalent that it even has its own acronym. A detox is the process by which we remove certain elements that are overtaxing us so that we can maintain a more healthy balance.
When people think of detox, they often think first of alcoholics or drug addicts. When an alcoholic or drug addict wants to quit drinking or get clean, they generally need to go through detox to cleanse the alcohol or drugs from their system so they can get treatment. People who develop a food allergy may not know what it is exactly they are allergic to. They may need to do a detox first of all potential offenders so they can start with a clean slate. They slowly start introducing foods back into their diet until they figure out what they are allergic to. A digital detox works much the same way. Sometimes, you need to unplug entirely for a bit and then slowly start introducing electronics back into your life so you know what you can actually live without.

3. Get back to nature

One of the biggest problems with connected tech is what it disconnects us from. Taking a digital detox for the sake of taking one is good, but it can also be difficult. Perhaps one of the best ways to start is to get away from cell service and outlets in the first place. Ditch your digital devices and get somewhere far away from all the electronic noise. Getting away from electronics doesn't necessarily have to mean roughing it in a rugged environment, but it can.
There are a number of different travel and vacation options to help you unplug. You can go the old-fashioned route by hiking, fishing, hunting or camping, or you can go as luxe as you want. For those that want to truly travel back in time before even electricity, you might consider "Robinson Crusoe tourism." Croatia in particular has made a cottage industry of offering accommodations in secluded locations, often with no running water or electricity. This doesn't mean they don't offer showers and other amenities, simply that they are offered in the most old-fashioned way possible.
Whether you just unplug for several hours every evening or for several weeks at a time, there is no right or wrong way to limit technology in your life. What is important, however, is finding the balance between allowing technology to help you live a more full life and having technology take over your life entirely.

Successful Ways and Methods of Grounding Yourself by Ali Tinwala

Grounding is essential to the flow of energy, no matter where it’s being directed, or where it’s coming from. Anyone who desires to facilitate healing must learn about grounding, or it’s not going to happen. To understand how the energy of crystals works, grounding is part of the equation. If you want balance, it can’t be ignored. If you are becoming enlightened, your path will encounter a roadblock until you get your grounding in place.
Ways of Grounding Yourself
Crystals - there are many crystals that are used for grounding purposes. Crystals that are used at the Base Chakra are grounding crystals. The energies from these crystals activate Grounding between the 1st chakra and the Earth. They reverse the polarity of energy, changing negative energies into positive energies. Many healers who do chakra balancing with using powerful healing crystals will put an “anchor stone” at the feet for grounding purposes. There is actually an additional chakra there that is very important when you get to advanced chakra work.
Intent - With practice, we can learn to ground ourselves simply with the intention of doing so. There is a popular phrase among people who do energy work that says, “energy flows where attention goes”. You can learn to do this by making the mind still and focus on the intention of grounding yourself; imagine yourself a tree, with roots growing into the ground. This is just one way of grounding yourself by intention.
Yoga - Yoga teachers teach a series of yoga poses specifically for grounding. Yoga is in itself a form of meditation and grounding.
Tai Chi - Tai Chi is the practice of grounding, you can't practice Tai Chi without grounding. Michael, our website developer, ipracticingng Tai Chi Chuan. He expresses grounding as something that you can be aware of when for instance you push away from the ground or walking, walking is, in fact, a controlled fall, if you don’t put one foot in front of the other, when you walk, you will fall to the ground. When we stand up or rise from a sitting position, we are made aware of our connection to the earth by the gravity pull.
Grounding is something we learn to do, it doesn’t just happen automatically. Many things around us naturally; walking, eating, drinking water, playing sports – all of these things make us more aware that we are in the physical body. Sometimes others are described as being “a grounded person”. This is because they do things that connect them with Mother Earth and Nature. People that spend a lot of time outdoors with animals, and love being out enjoying Nature tend to be very grounded. They ground themselves naturally this way.
By grounding we become balanced and function normally, using less of our own energy. When learning healing techniques, grounding is important, because we want to channel the energy from God/Source/Higher Power. If we do energy and healing work, using our own energy, not only does it become limited to what we can do physically, it depletes us of our own energy.
Practice Grounding when you get up in the morning. Go outside with your coffee or juice and just take in the sunshine and the elements of Nature. When you are grounded, you will notice you feel a lot calmer, and things that normally irritate you will be hardly noticeable. You will experience a more positive outlook and a happy attitude.
I learned a wonderful thing to do each morning on one of my Weekend Retreats – I have made it a practice to do this every morning: Go out and greet the Sky and all that is. Offer yourself to the day, and accept the Energy of the Earth. Release what you don’t need, and give all gifts from the Heart. Be Grateful. Every single day is a chance to give or receive a Blessing you won’t want to miss.

Take the Stress Out of Stress By Susan Leigh

How would it be if you awoke every day feeling refreshed and confident about the day ahead, with enough energy and resilience in reserve to tackle whatever might be thrown your way? Yes, unexpected challenges crop up from time to time but how would it be, if in the main, you knew yourself well enough to be able to manage stress, cope well and have some time for yourself, including breaks for those important people and things in your life?
In a busy life we often focus on work, letting home, friends and outside interests take care of themselves. But often personal areas will stay quiet, gently fading into the background, not wanting to force us to choose or add to our stress. At some point the realisation hits us. Friends and family don't include us anymore. They are living their lives without us. It may take a while for us to notice, but it's not an uncommon situation.
Some stress is good for us. It keeps us on our toes, helps us think outside the box, come up with new ideas, deliver more than we thought we could. But continual stress is counter-productive and can cause many issues and ailments over time. There are a documented 360 physical symptoms of stress and you may be working your way through them all!
At first the occasional symptom may go unnoticed or be explained away. The intermittent headaches, sleepless nights, irritability, disappearing sense of humour, poor concentration can be explained away through being busy and overloaded. You may have a stressful period at work, problems at home, health-related concerns, things on your mind.
But if they continue unabated or start to escalate it may be time to address what's going on, what the root cause or trigger is to these changes in your equilibrium. Ignored, things often continue until you can't discount or brush them aside any more. The continual drips can escalate into an overflow which starts to impact and affect every area of your life.
Starting to take responsibility and own how you're feeling, the way you're living your life is an important first step to manage stress. When we acknowledge our responses, recognise that we need to take control and then start to do so we become more able to move to a better place both mentally and physically.
Here are some steps to take the stress out of stress;
Does dealing with stress mean compartmentalising it, leaving it at the door, or is it more effective to find positive ways to manage your life so that every area has balance as often as possible?
- Recognise what's going on with you. What is your inner voice saying; that you must do it all yourself or feel guilty, a failure, less successful? Do you fear being 'caught out', found to be an imposter if others step in to help? Recognise the triggers, the situations or phrases people use that influence your stress levels.
- Revise your perspective. Notice the difference in your outlook from when you're feeling happy and upbeat, or conversely battered and fed up. It's often not what happens to us but how we're feeling and responding that's the determining factor. Take control and focus on what your viable choices are. Appreciate what you have already in your life.
- Be kind to yourself by being healthy, with regular good food, water, exercise. Take time to read a book or even do nothing. Simply parking the car for a 15 minutes break after work can really benefit your mood and stress levels for when you return home.
- Manage the overwhelm by delegating, sharing and regularly communicating what's going on. Ask for help, don't expect others to be psychic. And when you bring others in to help they may thrive with the additional responsibility, seeing it as a chance to grow, improve their skills and perhaps even impress you with new ideas and better ways of doing things.
- 'No' can be most positive word in your vocabulary. Teach others to respect you, to understand what you do every day and value how much you do for them. Encourage their gratitude and appreciation.
- 'Yes' can be negative if it's become your constant default to everything that's asked of you. Do you agree out of fear, apprehension, guilt? Used positively 'yes' can move you out of your comfort zone and scare you a little every day.
- Break big tasks into bite-sized chunks so that you're the decision-maker, moving and feeling proactive.
Why not manage stress by selecting 3 of these items to action in the next 48 hours;
1. Outsource tasks that are not in your area of expertise. Hiring someone to manage your accounts, PR, advertising could be money well spent and free you to focus on your main business. Maybe hire someone to do your domestic chores, your cleaning, ironing, gardening and use that free time to do something for yourself.
2. Share with family. Your partner often wants to be there for you. Discuss what you're going through and let them be supportive. Even children can have tasks that are their responsibility, maybe setting the table or loading the dishwasher. Communicate and ask for help.
3. Ensure you have family time by sitting and eating together, even if it's just once a week. Keep two-way channels of communication open so it's not all about you. Be interested in what's going on in their lives and remember what you've been told so you can follow-up again.
4. Turn off technology at a set time in the evenings, unless there's an occasional emergency that needs your attention. Allow yourself to switch off, preferably for a couple of hours before bed. If you commit to specific time slots each day to go online you'll avoid wasting time by constantly checking. You'll have more free time and be able to invest genuine attention in your real relationships.
5. Treat sleep as important. Stress and sleep-related issues cost UK businesses £40 billion last year, or the equivalent of 200,000 days lost productivity, due to accidents, absenteeism and poor performance. Prepare to sleep well by winding down for an hour or two before bed. Avoid that heavy conversation last thing at night, plan for the next day by making a list of impending tasks, maybe have your clothes ready, the children's lunches packed.
6. Try to maintain a regular routine, a relaxing bath or shower to wash away the day's cares. If you have a busy physical job try to introduce balance with mentally challenging interests like quizzes, puzzles, interesting conversations, or mentally demanding work might be balanced by scheduling physical activity like the gym or a walk.
7. It can be fun to regularly get outside and maybe share that time with family by taking a walk, game of football, playing together.
8. Reward each stage of your journey with treats, me time and self-praise. Trying deserves recognition, even if things don't work out how you'd hoped.
9. Commit to ongoing training, learning, developing, improvement. Keep your brain active so that you're engaged and stimulated.
Stress is a fact of everyday life, but by incorporating a few basic steps you can implement effective ways to take the stress out of stress!

Recognize Your Personal Strengths - Know What Strengths You Bring, Then Bring 'Em By Jan Verhoeff

Recognize your strengths - the biggest fallacy in life is that we've gained nothing that we can use, as we grow older.
Women, specifically seem to believe after the kids are grown up and gone, if they weren't involved in a career their skill-set is useless. When Jodi asked me last week about whether or not her skills as a writer, those ones she learned back in high school, were any good at this point in time, I said, "Don't you read now?"
Totally in awe of the fact that people did go to school 'way back when' but they're still LIVING now. How can that happen? Do they just use the skills they acquired in school and never learn anything new?
Most people learn something new every single day. Perhaps what they learn is useful, or perhaps not. But learning is an on-going lifetime process that you do all the time.
This morning, while talking to my daughter, I learned that she had gained incredible skills of research and investigation after our first experience with a tornado. The tornado didn't touch down, but she had been sent to a basement for some crazy reason and she wanted to know why, so she took a dive off the hard wood floors of the library into a book about weather and learned at the tender age of nine that tornadoes appear when changes in temperature take place at high altitudes. Before the tornado can touch down, it has to gain sufficient sucking power to shift the temperature down the funnel which moves the funnel downward.
Independent learning is something most of us do naturally. Every day.
The REALITY - in one way or another - you've overcome every obstacle that ever landed in your path. Every turn of the road, you've found a way to step over, climb, walk around or overcome the obstacles you've faced. What strengths have you gained from those experiences?
Take a moment and write those down. Perhaps you're tenacious, dedicated to survival, or perhaps you've learned to negotiate your way out of paper bags? One particularly brilliant young woman I've known for a lifetime, could literally sell snow to an Eskimo. She's an absolute WHIZ when it comes to sales. What is your strength? Write that down.
Here are a few things that might have motivated you to grow life long strengths:
1) Relocating to a different area.
If you and your family relocated, you most likely had to find new educational resource. Perhaps, during the move you had to find and provide transportation for your family, locate your new home in a new town.
2) Change jobs, or help your spouse or children find a job.
This kind of personal assistance will increase your ability to communicate and interact with others.
3) Negotiate through class work and schedules with your children.
Negotiation skills are top end in most any business. Don't negate those negotiating skills, they are really important.
So what are your personal strengths?
Learning how to be the best of who we are isn't always easy, but do we give ourselves enough credit? Let's discuss this topic more over coffee. Visit me at http://janverhoeff.com and let's chat!

Contribution: Key to A Happy Life | Tony Robbins

Success, Happiness and a More Meaningful Life

Achieving Personal Success

What is an important key to achieving personal success? Before this question can be answered, we must define what we mean by personal success. Many of us equate personal success with power and financial success, and indeed we must have enough self-esteem and enough financial security in our lives to feel confident that we are meeting our necessary responsibilities, but in my definition of personal success we must view our lives in all of its varied aspects. That means attention must be paid not only to our work and our careers, but also to our personal needs--health, recreation, personal relationships and growth. In today's fast paced environment, this takes a special commitment to dedicate ourselves to planning and balance.

Barriers to Success

There are often common barriers that block us from achieving success. Before we can examine these barriers, we must define which type of success we are seeking, because the two separate definitions of success demand different strategies and follow different paths. Financial and career success demand that we learn to work hard, pick ourselves up from our failures and continue to constantly do what is necessary to move forward toward our goals, making success the first priority in our lives and not allowing failure to deter us. If we make this choice then we can be confident that we will eventually succeed.

Success in one's personal life has a different path. Our own private needs and our personal relationships must then become part of our decision making process. These more personal decisions may take time and energy away from our drive toward our financial and career success. Each person must make his own decision as how to continue to move forward, but each decision that is made has its consequences. If we choose career success at any cost then the personal side of our lives may suffer. If we choose our personal success path, then we may make less money and feel perhaps a lesser sense of achievement in our careers. Therefore the barrier to achieving success is really our own conflict about these choices, and the difficulty in deciding what our choices should be. Once we make our decisions, we can then move quickly toward our selected goals.

Goal Setting

Goal setting is an important part of achievement. There are two ways that we set our goals. One is outer driven and one is inner driven. The outer driven goals are the goals that others set for us. They may be set by our friends, our neighbors, the society in which we live or the prevailing values of our time. The second way we discover our goals is inner driven. It is an internal system which show us what we would like to personally achieve. It is this inner voice that whispers to us who we are and how we can achieve our unique potential. Before we can achieve our goals we must know ourselves well enough to know what goals we want to achieve, and be sure they are our own goals and not the goals that others have set for us. When we know what we really want to accomplish, it is then easier to take those steps which help us to achieve those goals.

How Can we Live an Extraordinary Life?

The extraordinary life is not so much about what a person achieves or what others think of him, but rather how he views his own life and his own achievements in terms of his loving relationships and his competence in adjusting to the difficult demands of living with strength and with dignity, so that he can say when he looks back over the passing years "I have been grateful for the gift of life. I have tried to continue to learn and grow. I have tried to have the courage to follow my internal honesty."This more examined life is an extraordinary life because it leads to more balance, more contentment and to the fulfillment of each individual's personal vision.

Leading Happier more Fulfilled Lives

Life is a marvelous, continuing journey. Every day is a challenging adventure with opportunities for new insights, growth and change. With thoughtful planning and good decision making skills we are more able to have some control over our days and to achieve that ultimate goal of leading happier, more fulfilled lives.

Out Of Your Head And Into Your Soul

“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.” –Jon Kabat-Zinn
. . .
Do you fear that you’re missing out on life?
Are you waiting for something? To be loved? To be successful? To be happy?
Do you often feel like life is simply carrying you along, as something beyond your control?

In ancient Greek mythology, Narcissus was a beautiful youth who caught sight of his reflection in a pond one day and became completely enamored with it. It is said that he lay down by the water to gaze at his face, growing obsessed with his own image. Since he was unable to obtain the object of his desire, he died where he lay, overcome by grief. Sounds pathetic, but in many instances it’s a frighteningly accurate metaphor. The term “narcissist” is derived from this myth, and it tellingly refers to a person who is self-enamored and self-preoccupied, often to an obsessive and dangerous degree.
In his novella The Beast in the Jungle, author Henry James introduces us to exactly such a character: John Marcher, an extremely self-centered young man who is convinced that he has been selected by fate for a special event that will occur in his lifetime. He encounters a sensitive and intelligent young woman, May Bartram, who listens to John’s theory concerning his personal foreboding and conviction that he’s destined for greatness. May offers her friendship and agrees to watch and wait with John until this special fate comes to fruition. For many years, John sits idly and refuses to let May get close to him, ignoring the love of a good woman and killing time as he waits for his “spectacular fate”.
The story unravels to become a tale of lost life and lost love; it is only after May dies that John realizes that he’s missed most of his life—and the opportunity for true love—while waiting for a rare, strange, and self-concocted “event” that never happens. By living in his head and focusing on a fantasy, he missed the true meaning of life. He missed out on friendship, love, purpose, adventure, discovery, and self-growth. Gambling for nothing, he lost everything.
Narcissists typically do not empathize nor can they appreciate the beauty of the life that surrounds them. They exist at the opposite end of the spectrum as opposed to mindfulness. John “woke up” when May died; this was the emotional event that triggered his realization—too late—that life extended beyond himself.
Mindfulness is about exactly that: waking up to the world and connecting with life.
. . .
“By breaking down our sense of self-importance, all we lose is a parasite that has long infected our minds. What we gain in return is freedom, openness of mind, spontaneity, simplicity, altruism: all qualities inherent in happiness.” –Mathieu Ricard
. . .
As a teacher of mindfulness meditation and the founder of the University of Massachusetts’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program, Jon Kabat-Zinn says:
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non Out Of Your Head And Into Your Souljudgmentally.”
By cultivating conscious awareness of the present moment, we extract ourselves from our own toxic thought patterns. By learning to sense and see and appreciate life, we need not regret an unfulfilled existence. Mindfulness is a practice that can immediately ground us back into the world, helping us delve within ourselves while simultaneously shifting us beyond ourselves.
As mindfulness is all about “living in the now”, the idea suitably circles back to the NOW philosophy:
  • Notice.
Look around you and experience the life and love that surrounds you. It is right beside you! If you haven’t seen it, open your eyes and your mind. It’s easy to remove those mental blinders and barriers, as long as you truly want to.
  • Opportunities.
Seek out and you shall find opportunities to grow and connect with life without judging yourself. By staying in the moment with those who are nearest and dearest to us, we can cultivate compassion, love, kindness, and morality within us—and then extend this compassionate attitude towards others.
  • Within.
By becoming more mindful, you will achieve a stronger inner peace. It is foremost beneficial to you, and then—from you—it explodes tenfold out into the world around you. You can be deeply affected by the people around you, and can gain insight from and power over their thoughts; never forget that this is mutual—so work to make a positive impact.
. . .
“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).” –James Baraz
. . .
Not sure where to start? Dr. Kabat-Zinn lists the following simple exercises as key components to mastering mindfulness:
  • Pay attention to your breathing in the present moment.
  • Notice what you’re sensing right now—use all of your senses. What can you see, hear, smell, touch, and taste? Increase your awareness of your body’s physical sensations to better ground yourself in the moment.
  • Understand that your thoughts and emotions are like clouds. They will come and go and will always pass through; they need not define you.
  • Keep a look-out for negative thought patterns so that you recognize them and then can make changes.
Get out of your head and get into your soul. Don’t waste life—live it. And begin living it now. If you do it now, you will always have time.
. . .
“In this moment, there is plenty of time. In this moment, you are precisely as you should be. In this moment, there is infinite possibility.” –Victoria Moran
